In the summer of 1999, she was the first German winner of the Cardiff "Singer of the World" competition.
She has made guest appearances at the opera houses of Frankfurt, Lyon, Berlin, München, Wien, Dresden, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Paris, San Diego and at the festivals in Salzburg and Edinburgh.
In autumn 2003, Anja gave her debut as Contessa Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) and sang there also Donna Anna in a new production of Don Giovanni.
Her repertoire contains roles as Mimi (La Bohème), Fjordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Micaela (Carmen), Eva (Meistersinger), Violetta (La Traviata), Amelia (Simon Boccanegra), Desdemona (Otello) and Alice Ford (Falstaff).
Concerts in London, Florenz, Vicenza, Tel Aviv, Cardiff, Philharmonie Köln, Boston and Bonner Beethovenhalle.
She is working with conductors like Zubin Mehta, James Conlon, Sylvain Cambreling, Jesus Lopez-Cobos,
