Welsh National Opera will offer audio and video excerpts from its current production of Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer (The Flying Dutchman), which stars Bryn Terfel, on its web site starting today.
According to the company, the WNO is the first European opera company to offer its own live performances over the Internet.
The audio segments, which will be available for download and thus can be kept permanently, include the overture, the Spinning Chorus, the duet from Act II, and the Sailor's Chorus; streaming video of the Dutchman's first monologue, the Spring and Sailor's Chorus, and the Act II duet can be watched through the web site.
Both the downloads and streams will be available at
www.wno.org.uk until April 15, the WNO's 60th anniversary, as the company tours the U.K
