La faceta lideista (¿existe esto?) de Van Dam a mi me parece extraordinaria. Es de esos cantantes elegantes y sensibles que conectan perfectamente con el poema y la música que cantan. Quizá su voz nos parezca a veces poco sugestiva para ciertos textos pero es capaz de arrancar matices que voces más ligeras, pese a tener un instrumento más adecuado, no son capaces de captar.

Sigo disfrutando de las grabaciones que se han colgado :)

Exacto. Como dice Stiffelio, lo fascinante de Van Dam cantando lieder o mélodie, al menos para mí, es que se revela un cantante más grande que su voz, un interprete superior a su instrumento. A mí me parece fascinante y me engancha mucho.

Esta noche o mañana por la mañana os colgaré algunas canciones más de Ravel, el compositor con el que Van Dam mejor sintoniza, a mi parecer.

pd. en plan pedante, diría que no es "lideista" sino "liederista" ;-)

Comos os decía, seguimos con algunas canciones más de Ravel. De antemano debo decir que, personalmente, uno de los descubrimientos musicales más placenteros de los últimos dos años han sido los ciclos de canciones de M. Ravel. En ese descubrimiento Van Dam ha jugado un papel clave, porque fue por sus interpretaciones como me picó el gusanillo por este repertorio. En este post escuchamos todo lo que registró junto a Dalton Baldwin al piano, y la parte dedicada a Ravel de un excelente cd registrado con Nagano. Faltarían las canciones populares griegas registradas por Van Dam junto a Boulez, que no enlazaré pero que pongo a disposición de quien las quiera escuchar.

Seguimos con el extenso repertorio de canción francesa interpretado por Van Dam. Esta vez llega el turno de Poulenc. Ciertamente, un estilo y una concepción de la canción muy diversa de la más "clásica" de Massenet, Gounod o Saint-Säens, y también diversa de la originalísima elaboración de Ravel. El "juego" de Poulenc es mucho más variopinto, poniendo en juego sensaciones, ritmos, formas musicales y textos de lo más diverso. Un lenguaje original. Un universo apasionante.
