A new production directed by Mariame Clément.
Enrique Mazzola conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Michael Fabiano as Poliuto, Ana María Martínez as Paolina.
Designed by Julia Hansen with lighting by Bernd Purkrabek.
15 performances from 21 May to 15 July.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Die Entführung aus dem Serail
A new production directed by David McVicar.
Glyndebourne’s Music Director Robin Ticciati conducts the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Sally Matthews as Konstanze, Mari Eriksmoen as Blonde and Edgaras Montvidas as Belmonte.
Designed by Vicki Mortimer with lighting by Paule Constable and choreography by Andrew George.
17 performances from 13 June to 10 August.

George Frideric Handel Saul
A new production directed by Barrie Kosky.
Ivor Bolton conducts the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Christopher Purves in the title role, Iestyn Davies as David, Lucy Crowe as Merab. American tenor Paul Appleby makes his Glyndebourne debut as Jonathan.
Designed by Katrin Lea Tag with lighting by Joachim Klein and choreography by Otto Pichler.
13 performances from 23 July to 29 August.


Revivals

Georges Bizet Carmen
A revival of David McVicar’s 2002 Festival production, last seen in the Festival in 2008.
Jakub Hrůša conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Stéphanie d’Oustrac in the title role, Paulo Szot as Escamillo, Lucy Crowe as Micaëla.
Revived by Marie Lambert with set design by Michael Vale, costume design by Sue Blane and lighting design by Paule Constable.
Original choreography by Andrew George, revived by Emily Piercy.
15 performances from 23 May to 11 July.

Benjamin Britten The Rape of Lucretia
A revival of Fiona Shaw’s 2013 Tour production, which makes its Festival premiere.
Leo Hussain conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in his Festival debut.
Kate Royal as Female Chorus, Allan Clayton as Male Chrous, Christine Rice as Lucretia, Duncan Rock as Tarquinius.
Set design by Michael Levine, costume design by Nicky Gillibrand, and lighting by Paul Anderson.
Winner of best new production in the 2013 What’s On Stage Opera Poll.
9 performances from 5 July to 19 August.

Maurice Ravel L’heure espagnole/ L’enfant et les sortilèges
The first revival of Laurent Pelly’s 2012 Festival production.
Glyndebourne’s Music Director Robin Ticciati conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Danielle de Niese stars as both Concepción in L’heure espagnole and the titular child in L’enfant et les sortilèges.
Set design by Barbara de Limburg for L’enfant et les sortilèges; by Caroline Ginet and Florence Evrard for L’heure espagnole.
Costume design by Laurent Pelly in collaboration with Jean Jacques Delmotte. Lighting design by Joël Adam.

Performed in the Jerwood Studio by soloists from the Glyndebourne Chorus and Glyndebourne’s Jerwood Young Artists programme.

Aunque no hay reposición de los Meistersinger, la verdad que casi todo de primeras resulta bastante apetitoso.

El programa doble Ravel con Danielle De Niese en dos papeles que normalmente hacen mezzos es como para salir huyendo sin mirar atrás...
El reparto del Rapto no puede ser peor.
Lo más interesante, de largo, el Poliuto (que al margen de ser un operón y una rareza, cuenta en principio con un cast de cierta garantía) y la Rape of Lucretia. Y, a otro nivel, el morbo añadido e incuestionable de tener una ópera contemporánea de estreno absoluto sobre Macbeth.

La presencia de De Niese en esos dos papeles para nada empaña ni disminuye el interés de ese magnífico programa doble.

Del reparto del Rapto no conozco al tenor, sí a las dos sopranos y son estupendas aunque Matthews insiste en meterse en camisas de once varas. Por cierto, después de años casi sin Entführungs ya hay tres nuevas producciones la próxima temporada: París, Aix y Glyndebourne. ¿Alguien lo entiende?

El Poliuto me parece muy interesante también por el título en sí. Reparto plausible aunque la Martínez... La mejor noticia es que no dirige Mark Elder.

Lo más interesante de todo, ese Saul escenificado.

Y la rareza del Britten.

Un programa un poco extraño pero muy interesante, con títulos muy poco frecuentes salvo Carmen (sin tenor por ahora). Por fin un teatro que se la juega. :aplauso:
